Communities need fast, accurate diagnostics to make data-driven decisions to reduce COVID-19 transmission. To be really useful, diagnostics need to be accessible (so people can use them when needed) and cost-effective (so people can afford to use them frequently).

Until recently, antigen testing hit those marks, but now the CDC recommends two to three antigen tests, each 48 hours apart, to confirm an initial negative result. Laboratory PCR testing isn't much faster (results usually take 24 to 72 hours) and it's much more expensive. This leaves few options for communities trying to reduce viral spread.
